The Mandala
Center

Sitting
on the slopes of the Sierra Grande Mountain in the far
northeastern corner of New Mexico is an ecumenical
retreat center known for its warm hospitality, beautiful
facilities, and excellent meals, The Mandala Center.
Located in the midst of a working cattle, about 35 miles
of Raton, New Mexico, the center offers majestic views
of the surrounding high plains and volcanic peaks and,
at night, a gorgeous star-filled sky. Wildlife is
plentiful too; pronghorn antelope, wild turkeys, deer,
elk and many varieties of birds find their home here.
But the
center is most known for the programs it offers in
spiritual development, health and wholeness and the
arts. The 2008 schedule includes retreats for couples
retreats; writing, pottery and photography workshops;
discernment retreats for clergy and clergy spouses; a
performance by the New York Chamber Soloists; a dream
workshop; and a special Thanksgiving weekend, among
other things. In addition, the center hosts meetings,
workshops and retreats provided by a variety of faith
groups, non-profit organizations, and businesses. And
individuals seeking a quiet, peaceful place for rest,
reflection and renewal are always welcome.
The
center’s main building is striking in its beauty. Build
with round walls, high ceilings and incorporating two
cut glass Mandala windows, Casa Mandala is a great place
to enjoy a good meal, relax by the indoor fountain, or
sit on the deck and watch one of the southwest’s
stunning sunsets. The center’s other buildings include
a guest house with eight double occupancy rooms with
private baths and a second guesthouse with two suites.
The center has overnight accommodations for 24 people.
