White Sands
International Film Festival
Premiers March 16 –
22, 2008
The White Sands International
Film Festival will be held in Alamogordo,
encompassing all of southern New Mexico, with a week
of events beginning March 16, 2008 and culminating
March 22, 2008 with galas and parties every night.
The official venue of the festival is the Aviator 10
Theater in Alamogordo. The Spencer Theater in
Ruidoso is the festival's theatrical venue with the
New Mexico Museum of Space History supporting all
aeronautical and space heritage events and films.
Executive Festival Producer David William Gibbons
explained, “The White Sands International Film
promotes many film genres focusing especially on
short narrative films and documentaries from around
the world. It promotes extensive ties both
internationally and actively with associated cities
in Mexico, which are seen as the first generation in
the film festival industry in supporting and
promoting the film world in Mexico; never seen
before in the history of the film
festival business."
Gibbons is known internationally for his work as
director and
producer of 14 Days in
America and 14 Days in Great Britain, two
creative film projects examining people and places
through portrait and documentary.
