Celebrate the Beauty of Pose of the
Fish, Matsyasana by Cheryl
Bruedigam - CYI-250

All week long in my practice, I keep reflecting on
the beauty of Matsyasana or pose of the fish. After a
lengthy hold in shoulder stand and down into pose of the
plough, the balance of rising into Matsyasana brings a
feeling of completion along with a strong sense of the
power generated. Coupled with the poised beauty created
in this pose, Matsyasana is one of the simplest yet most
graceful poses to perform.
In addition to its grace and beauty, the pose of the
fish offers many benefits including;
- Stretches the hip flexors and the muscles
between the ribs
- Stretches and stimulates the muscles of the
stomach and the front of the neck
- Stretches and stimulates the organs of the belly
and throat
- Strengthens the muscles of the upper back and
back of the neck
- Improves posture
