Santa Fe has long been known as a healing place for
the mind and body. Whether enjoying a hotel spa, day
spa, natural healing treatment, or simply soaking up a
little down time, Santa Fe is a perfect backdrop for
relaxation and rejuvenation. In Santa Fe for 2009 there
are several new spas in the area, an online
complimentary healing resource, and upgrades to some of
the city's best-known facilities.
Hotel Santa Fe Spa
The newly constructed Hotel Santa Fe Spa sits quietly
above the property's luxury suites in The Hacienda at
Hotel Santa Fe. The spa entry is built around a large,
crystal water feature while the five treatment rooms are
painted in sky themes. A comprehensive selection of
massage therapies, Ayurvedic and spa treatments, body
and skin care, and nail services is available including
use of both locally and internationally inspired
ingredients and methods. The spa is staffed by highly
trained therapists and licensed practitioners and is the
newest addition to the city's excellent selection of
spas. Rates start at $75 for 30 minute body treatments
through $250 for a 150 minute Land of Enchantment spa

Nidah Spa at the Eldorado Hotel & Spa
Three junior suites at the Eldorado Hotel & Spa have
been converted into Nidah Spa suites. The in_room
amenities and features are extensive and include posh
accommodations, a Southwestern color and fabric pallet,
innovative room design and furniture promoting a
peaceful state, plush linens, comfortable robes, a
customized iPod Nano playlist, special spa bar featuring
Nidah Spa products, in_room spa treatments, daily
breakfast in bed, and more, starting at $869 per
night/double occupancy. The suite price includes a head
to toe massage either in_room or at Nidah Spa. The "Luxe
Suite" features individual oxygen pods to help travelers
adjust to Santa Fe's 7,000 foot elevation. Nida Spa
itself offers treatments embracing the philosophy of the
Native American Medicine Wheel and its spiritual

The Spa at Loretto
The Inn at Loretto's new management, Destination
Hotels & Resorts, has upgraded the entire property in
the last year including the Spa at Loretto. An Intuitive
Lifestyle menu of services has been added offering
guests holistic and spiritually based treatments such as
Reiki, Astrology, Cranial Sacral, Chakra Balancing, and
Life Coaching. The Spa director is now blending
aromatherapy oils in_house creating five signature oil
blends to choose from. The director has also created a
signature scent for the hotel, "Spirit of Loretto", to
be unveiled in the first part of '09. Guests who
register for the hotel's Legacy Club_a free program of

Rock Resorts Spa at La Posada
A favorite with city visitors, the RockResorts Spa at
La Posada Resort and Spa offers signature treatments
such as the Spirit of Santa Fe, Chocolate_Chile Wrap,
Desert Enchantment Facial, and Raw Earth Pedicure. Now,
as part of a $6 million, hotel_wide restoration, the spa
experience is more sublime. The entry has been
rearranged for a more tranquil setting, the relaxation
area has been enhanced with new lounge furniture and
privacy drapery, the couple's treatment room now
features its own shower, and a new exterior entrance to
the fitness room provides 24 hour access for guests.

Absolute Nirvana at The Madeleine
As part of the Victorian_era Madeleine B&B , Absolute
Nirvana spa offers room and deluxe treatment packages
starting at $539 for the Romance Special and $739 for
the Deluxe Romance Special. Each includes 2 nights
lodging, champagne, and couples massage. The newly
renovated spa area brings an improved sense of
tranquility and quality to the already soothing
environment. Treatments include Indonesian spa
treatments, therapeutic, hot stone, and Thai massage,
and add_ons such as rose petal baths.

BODY Spa
Located in the multi_faceted and newly expanded BODY
complex, made up of a studio, boutique, and organic
café, the sap at BODY offers a comprehensive list of
bodywork options in addition to spa treatments and
therapies. Rolfing, Somatic Polarity work, Qigong,
Reiki, Ortho_Bionomy®, Shiatsu, and Dalahare Healing are

The historic casitas of the Five Graces are now home
to a newly created spa space featuring treatments in

awarded a Relais & Chateaux membership_one of 3 in the
country this year. Combining ancient Indian Ayurvedic
philosophies of longevity, rejuvenation, and health with
soothing oil infusions, rare plant extracts, and
conscious touch, the menu of specially designed
treatments, such at Ayurvedic Healing Massage or High

The Spa at Encantado
The newly opened Encantado, an Auberge Resort, brings
a luxurious spa alternative to the Santa Fe area. The
spa experience draws on the region's multicultural
character as well as Santa Fe's extensive community of
healers and spa therapists. Auberge defines its
treatment style by integrating the highest standards of
service with local ingredients and healing agents.
Treatments include a Blue Corn and Honey renewal, a
Chile Pepper Foot Warmer, a Native American inspired
Mountain Spirit Purification, among many other options
such as Ayurvedic rituals, Eastern Medicine traditions,

ShaNah Spa at Bishop's Lodge
The six indoor treatment rooms and two outdoor
massage gardens make up only part of the ShaNah spa'. An
outdoor Watsu pool, fitness center, teepee in the
gardens, and a salon properly round out the Spa and
Wellness Center. Newly created are treatments and tips
for aging well, made up of a detoxification treatment
and a massage treatment using custom_blended oil for
each individual, based on information gained from a
lifestyle questionnaire. Some of the custom oil is sent
home with the client along with a coaching list for
continuing lifestyle changes.
Unique to ShaNah, Navajo for "Vitality and Energy,"

One of Santa Fe's oldest spas, "The Waves" as locals
call it continues to refine its services while
maintaining its Japanese sense of serenity and
relaxation. Treatments are comprehensive without being

communal tub, a complete 55 minute Custom Facial costs

Casa de Estrellas Spa
Located in the heart of historic Santa Fe, Casa de
Estrellas Luxury Inn & Spa brings a new level of
accommodation to the city with individual villas,
personal chef services, and a full service spa. From

individual spa treatments such as the Deep River
Massage, 50 minutes_$95, or The Galaxy hands and stone

Tranquility Flotation, Massage, and Healing Center
The recently opened Tranquility features the state's
only flotation tanks, along with an infrared sauna and a
menu of bodywork and sap services covering massage,
acupuncture, and polarity therapy among other
modalities. Flotation, or REST (Restricted Environmental
Stimulation Technique) is done in a Float Spa; a small
room with a 10_inch deep pool of highly Epsom salt
saturated water heated to skin temperature, 93.5 degrees
F. The salt keeps the body buoyant while sound and light
are controlled by the user, from musical and dim to
silent and pitch black. The weightless feeling and
limited sensory input are a path to relaxation and, when
used with advanced techniques, personal growth. A
one_hour flotation session costs $60 while a float
session and 90 minute massage runs $175.
