LON'S AT HERMOSA ARTIST BRUNCH MARCH 22, 2009
FEATURES WATERCOLORIST PETER NELSON

PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. -- Watercolor artist Peter Nelson will be the featured guest for an interactive Artist Brunch from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. March 22 at Lon's at The Hermosa in Paradise Valley.

Throughout the morning, Nelson will be available for one-on-one interaction with guests as he demonstrates his artistic techniques on Lon's scenic patio. Nelson paints colorful watercolors of lighthouses, skiffs, buoys and saltbox homesteads, creating colors and style of the Atlantic Ocean, foreign to the Southwest.

Boats Watercolor by Peter Nelson

A local Arizona artist, his heart and eye captures the light and architectural lines established in his native New England, where he spends summers painting on Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine. His painting, "Low Tide, Sunset," is published in the book, The Art of Monhegan Island by Carl Little.

Nelson began painting as a hobby in 1985 and is self taught, learning a lot about watercolor by watching his mom paint. He is a juried member of the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society and an active member of the Sedona Arts Center where he exhibits work in the annual member shows. He has received numerous awards for his paintings.

Guests are in for a treat with Chef Michael Rusconi's award-winning artful American cuisine and savory brunch specials, which may be enjoyed on Lon's outdoor patio with views of Camelback Mountain or in the elegant dining room.

Lon's delectable á la carte Sunday brunch menu includes roasted chicken and strawberry salad, steak and eggs with skillet cornbread, a three-egg omelet with smoked salmon, huevos rancheros, and banana walnut pancakes.

Lon's welcoming and intimate atmosphere features a ruggedly elegant dining room with wood-beamed ceilings, vintage Western artifacts and beehive fireplaces that accent the meandering dining space. The charming restaurant features the artworks of the historic inn's original owner, Lon Megargee.

Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling Lon's at The Hermosa at 602-955-7878.

Lon's at The Hermosa Inn is located at 5532 N. Palo Cristi Road in Paradise Valley, Ariz. For more information, visit www.lons.com.
