Canal Introduces New "Small Indulgence" Dessert Menu 2009

With Petite Portions and Prices

Scottsdale, AZ  – Warmer days and healthier lifestyles can make diners think twice about indulging in a large decadent dessert. But we all like to end a great meal on a sweet note.  Now, Canal’s Pastry Chef Jon Spahr has created a nearly guilt-free answer to the “Did you save room for dessert?” dilemma.  Spahr has introduced a new “Small Indulgences” dessert menu at Canal that features smaller sized treats with smaller prices too.  Spahr explains, “I created the Canal dessert program to reinforce a more balanced dining experience by removing the “did you save room for dessert” predicament and encouraging guests to sample items without a guilty calorie conscious.”

Spahr’s creations change with the season. And, when guests have a hard time deciding which mouth-watering dessert to try, the petite portions encourage a sample selection without over-indulging.  All six desserts will be offered Monday-Sunday at Canal throughout the summer season, for the price of $4.00 each or $10.00 for three. The menu features:

  • Peanut Butter Crème Brulee with caramelized banana and Dark Chocolate Banana Truffle

  • Canal Ice Cream Sandwich with soft chocolate cake cookies, house-made Vanilla Bean Gelato, rolled in Heath Bar crumbles and dipped in Chocolate Ganache

  • Orange Compote

  • Caramel Cheesecake with a Pecan Cookie Crust, served with Chantilly Cream Strawberry Marmalade, and Caramel sauce

  • Coconut Cannolli's - crispy shells filled with coconut lime infused mascarpone cheese, and passion fruit caramel

  • House-made Gelato and Sorbet
