Designing an Outdoor Yoga Area

Practicing yoga outdoors can be enjoyable and
exhilarating so why not make a space that is all yours?
Select an area that is as private as possible, wood
fencing, shrubs, trees, lattice or a gazebo can provide
privacy. You will need a space that measures at
least 8' x3' in which to practice yoga but we have
measured for 8' x 4' to provide a little moving space.
Of course you may be as basic or as intricate and
creative as you would like in making your yoga patio
however we have listed the basic materials for a simple
rectangle of square tiles that can be made in an
afternoon. Estimated minimum cost: $50
Materials needed: 32 12
inch square outdoor tiles
shovel, hoe, rake various
plants Measure your space
and even it out with the hoe and rake, then dig enough
depth that the tiles will sink into the earth nice and
flush. Place tiles as tightly together as possible
or leave space and fill with excess dirt between
sections. Eight tiles in length and four in width.
Now add your plants to the borders but be selective in
doing so. Anything scented, flowering or
containing pollen with cause problems at certain times
of the year because you will be breathing in the scents
and pollens. English ivies make a wonderful
border, require little attention and will not be
problem-causing with the breath.
If you want a southwest look and feel real creative, try
a mosaic in southwest colors.
