Citadelle Plaza Hosts West Valley's First Autumn Walk
and Wine Tasting
November 5, 12, 19, 27, 2009/ 6pm-9pm

Summer Fun by Nancy Christy-Moore
(Glendale, AZ) Arizona’s vibrant art scene is often
associated with towns like Sedona and Scottsdale. Now
you can add Glendale, the second largest city in the
Phoenix metro area, to the list. The Citadelle Plaza and
West Valley Arts Council present the city’s first Autumn
Art Walk and Wine Tasting, Thursday, November 5, 2009,
from 6pm-9pm. The weekly evening art shows will give the
public a sneak peek at works by artists to be featured
in the 2009 West Valley Home Art & Studio Tour on
December 6, 2009, as well as a closer look at selected
works by top local artists who hail from Phoenix metro’s
West Valley. Featured artists include Charles Ramer,
Phyllis Stringer, Cyndy Carstens, Pat Mathiesen and
Nancy Christy Moore.
Citadelle Plaza spokesperson, Rada K. Tierney, says it’s
an opportunity to celebrate artistic talent that rarely
gets public exposure. “The West Valley, and particularly
Glendale, is home to an up and coming cluster of
extremely gifted painters, sculptors and photographers
with works that deserve to be seen and appreciated.
Bringing their art to a high-profile public venue like
Citadelle Plaza opens the door to a new circle of fans
and potential collectors.” The art exhibits will be
displayed inside selected Citadelle Plaza merchant
businesses on November 5, 12, 19, and 27 from 6pm-9pm.
Attendees will also enjoy live music, strolling
performers and a wine tasting with hors’doeuvres
prepared by Citadelle Plaza eateries. While the art walk
is free and open to the public, participation in the
wine tasting and hors’doeuvres sampling is a $10
donation with proceeds to benefit West Valley Arts
Council. Busy Bodies Planned Play is offering parents
the night off during each Art Walk night with onsite
babysitting services for potty trained tots. A flat fee
of $12 covers up to three hours. Reservations are
required and can be made by calling 623-847-4090.
The art collections will change weekly except for six
donated pieces on permanent exhibit in the Citadelle
Plaza during the month of November. These selected works
of art will be raffled off at the 2009 West Valley Home
Art & Studio Tour. Tickets for the raffle and the tour
are available through West Valley Arts Council,
www.westvalleyarts.org . For more about the Autumn Art
Walk and Wine Tasting, visit www.citadelleplaza.com.
