Legendary
Hermosa Inn Underway with Rooms Remodel to Transform
Guest Suites

PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. -- Known for its one-of-a-kind
charm and intimate desert hideaway experience steeped in
Arizona history, the legendary Hermosa Inn is underway
with a $2 million rooms remodel to transform its guest
suites to a new level of elegance, according to General
Manager Michael Gildersleeve.
The historic boutique hotel will remain open during the
remodel which is planned for completion in early
November 2009.
Originally hand built in the 1930s by cowboy artist Lon
Megargee as his home and studio called "Casa Hermosa"
meaning beautiful house, The Hermosa Inn personifies
gracious Arizona hospitality with a quiet elegance and
comfortable seclusion nestled in the Sonoran desert
boasting stunning views of Camelback Mountain in the
affluent Paradise Valley, Ariz.
The Southwest-style luxury boutique hotel has a rich
history, providing a retreat for celebrities including
George Strait, Diane Ladd, Crystal Bernard, Doris
Roberts, Bo Jackson and many acclaimed artists as part
of the hotel's celebrated Artist in Residence series.
Focusing on enlarging and adding luxury appointments to
the inn's guest bath areas for a more relaxing and
elegant experience, enhancements will feature sumptuous
Waterworks products including large walk-in showers with
chrome faucets and showerheads, sinks and double
vanities; oversized antique pedestal bathtubs,
hand-picked ceramic white tile floors, and white
beadboard wainscoting creating an enhanced residential
feel.
Guest suite enrichments will feature hand-cut flagstone
tile entryways, rich olive loop carpeting, upscale
lighting treatments, multi-textured walls, custom
artwork, flat-screen plasma TVs, floor-to-ceiling French
doors, and private patios furnished with teak furniture.
Egyptian cotton bedding, hand-crafted rod iron and wood
headboards, dreamy canopy beds, and large walk-in
closets will make over the guest bedrooms.
Overall property upgrades will include new saltillo tile
sidewalks, enhanced landscaping featuring desert gardens
and flower-lined meandering paths, and a hidden "Secret
Garden" with privacy walls for relaxation as well as
providing a sanctuary for small wedding ceremonies.
Wireless access will be added throughout The Hermosa Inn
and be offered on a complimentary basis to guests for
use on property.

Historical character and charm abound in the guest
suites while each is individually decorated and feature
separate sitting areas with beehive and adobe
fireplaces, wood-beamed cathedral ceilings, skylights,
hand-painted tile, French doors, wet bars and a
courtyard setting with private patios.
Honoring the "old Arizona" character of the boutique
hotel resembling a Southwestern hacienda, the rooms
remodel will retain the inn's historic charm and
intimate atmosphere while offering a more upscale, yet
cozy experience in the guest suites.
The Hermosa Inn room design will now offer from 450
square feet up to a 1,400-square-foot connecting suite
ideal for families and social gatherings.
"Hermosa Inn's exclusive style, comfort and authentic
Arizona charm will remain as we elevate the guest room
experience and provide a property renewal," said
Gildersleeve. Guests enjoy knowing that each room has
been designed with luxury and a nod to our authentic
Arizona heritage. It's truly a part of what makes
staying at a small property so special."
"Hermosa Inn also serves as the perfect venue for a
small business retreat for the discerning business
executive seeking an alternative to a large meeting
hall," he said.
Hermosa Inn's celebrated Four Diamond restaurant, Lon's
at the Hermosa, offers artful American cuisine in a
ruggedly elegant adobe dining room and on a spectacular
patio with glowing fireplaces. Lon's offers guests a
peek into the past with vintage Western artifacts and a
memorable culinary experience which captures spirit,
creativity and warmth using bold flavors that reflect
the foods originating in the West. Authentic furnishings
and artwork painted by Megargee some 70 years ago is on
display throughout the restaurant.
The ownership team of The Hermosa Inn is comprised of
Fred and Jennifer Unger of Hermosa Legacy Partners,
Scottsdale, Ariz. and local private investor, Art
Cunningham.
The Hermosa Inn features a daily turn-down service with
a complimentary evening amenity. Rates will start at
$269 for the newly-remodeled rooms during the
fall/winter season.
The boutique hotel has been named one of the Top 50
small hotels in the United States by Zagat Survey and is
an Elite member of Condé Nast Johansens.
The Hermosa Inn is a historical landmark and an elegant
retreat for business and pleasure. The boutique hotel is
composed of a main lodge, 34 individually-designed guest
rooms, Lon's Four Diamond restaurant, a swimming pool
with private cabanas, a magnificent underground wine
cellar, intimate meeting space, patios with wood-burning
fireplaces and spectacular views of the Sonoran desert
and Camelback Mountain. For more information, visit
