Lon's at the Hermosa Hosts Cowboy Artist Martin Grelle at Artist in Residence Dinner Oct. 14, 2009

Artist Martin Grelle

Paradise Valley, Ariz. -- As a tribute to Lon Megargee, the cowboy artist who built The Hermosa Inn, Martin Grelle, a member of the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America will be the featured guest for an Artist in Residence dinner at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at Lon's.

Grelle's images of the American West, both contemporary and historical, reflect his deep understanding of the wide open vistas of the southwestern landscape and of the pioneering spirit of the people who live there. Working mainly in oil and acrylic, he is one of only five artists to have won the top award twice at the Prix de West Invitational show at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

The evening will feature a pre-dinner wine reception at which guests will have the exclusive opportunity to mingle with Martin Grelle. Participants will enjoy a sumptuous four-course dinner designed especially for the occasion by Lon's executive chef, Michael Rusconi, showcasing his artful American culinary style.

The menu will include Arizona shrimp with roasted pepper spaetzle; lobster and romaine salad with citrus fruits; pecan wood-grilled beef tenderloin with truffle-scented grits and spinach; and brie cheesecake with berries and mango coulis.

Red and white wines will be personally selected for the event by Lon's sommelier. The cost for the Artist in Residence dinner with Martin Grelle is $99 per person, including tax and gratuity and a four-course dinner paired with wines.

After dinner, Grelle will share stories about his life, cowboy art, and the traditions, cultures and essence of the people he captures in his paintings.

Lon's welcoming atmosphere features a ruggedly elegant dining room with wood-beamed ceilings, vintage Western artifacts and beehive fireplaces that accent the meandering dining space. The charming restaurant features artwork of the original owner, Lon Megargee.

Reservations are required and can be made by calling Lon's at The Hermosa at 602-955-7878.
