A Tribute
to the Great Pumpkin:
Celebrating October at the Inn of The Five Graces 2009

In the late fall sunshine, the adobe walls of Santa
Fe, New Mexico’s most historic retreat glow a rosy pink.
One has only to enter the Inn of the Five Graces to
discover that come October, the signature color here is
pumpkin orange! The inn pays tribute to "the great
pumpkin" three ways this Halloween.

The technicians at the inn’s intimate spa are always
on-hand to make guests feel and appear picture perfect.
In the month of October, this is achieved with help from
the "great" pumpkin when the spa introduces introduce a
pumpkin-based oil for their signature massages. The spa
is known for its massages and this seasonal massage oil
- a blend of New Mexico produce and "sister"
ingredients: pumpkin oil, piñon oil and maize oil - will
be available for any of their four signature massages:
Ayurvedic Healing Massage; R&R Massage; High Mountain
Hydration and Respiratory Ease. Pumpkin oil is rich in
anti-oxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, fruit enzymes and
vitamins A and C. Applied topically, it can be part of a
routine to revive tired skin and reduce the appearance
of fine lines. The naturally occurring fruit enzymes
promote the regular renewal of skin cells, a 28-day
process that can slow with aging.
For the guests pleasure and a boost of energy, before or
after the spa treatments, guests are treated to minted
water and pepitas - a popular southwestern snack of
toasted and spiced pumpkin seeds.
The Inn of the Five Graces takes pride in the local
Halloween and All Saints Day celebrations and traditions
by making the décor a family affair. Andrea, the ten
year-old daughter of associate manager and a fourth
generation Santa Fe resident, Anthony Martinez, invites
her class to draw the stencils to make elaborate carved
pumpkins in customary New Mexican designs that stud each
guestrooms doorways and keep the warm spirit of the
season alight at the only Relais & Châteaux property in
Santa Fe, New Mexico.
