DESIGN DIALOGUE AND LUNCHEON: Friday, October 2
On Friday, October 2, SFIDP presents its 5th
Annual Design Dialogue at the Farmers Market Building in
the Railyard District, Santa Fe. The event will take
place from 9AM through 12:00 and will be followed by a
catered luncheon. The theme of this year’s Design
Dialogue is Beauty, Collaboration, Design. The
panel discussion will be moderated by Marvin Wilkinson
of John Brooks, Inc. The four speakers will be Tom
Joyce, Laura Guido-Clark, Andrew Wagner, and Lori
Weitzner.
Tom Joyce is a Santa Fe resident, who has achieved
national and international fame for his work as an
artist, designer, and blacksmith. In 2003, Joyce
received the prestigious MacArthur Foundation
Fellowship, and he has also been awarded the Governor’s
Award for Excellence in the Arts.
Laura Guido-Clark is an expert in the skin of consumer
products – their color, materials, and finish. Her
ability to translate those influences into prescient
forecasting and concrete applications of color and
finish has helped companies such as HP, Samsung, Apple,
Mattel, and Toyota.
Lori Weitzner is
principal and creative director of her own New
York-based design firm as well as the Weitzner Limited
wall coverings company. Her recognizable signature is a
sophisticated color palette, intricate, dimensional
textures and a lyrical, painterly approach to pattern.
Andrew Wagner is the
editor-in-chief of ReadyMade magazine. Prior to
coming to ReadyMade he was the editor-in-chief of
American Craft magazine. Wagner was also the
executive editor and founding managing editor of
Dwell magazine, garnering the publication the
American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) General
Excellence Award in 2005.
Marvin Wilkinson is a
co-owner of John Brooks Incorporated, a nationally-known
showroom exclusive to the trade of designers and
architects. They represent leading artisans of
furniture, fabric and lighting in the design industry
and recognize the distinctive palette of the western
residence.
DESIGN SANTA FE HOME TOUR: Friday and Saturday,
October 2 and 3.
On Friday and Saturday, October 2 and 3, SFIDP sponsors
their 5th Annual Home Tour. This unique event
allows people to peek into custom home interiors created
by local designers for their Santa Fe clients. We asked
each of this year’s Home Tour designers to share a
little about themselves, their home tour projects, and
their connection to this year’s theme; Beauty,
Collaboration, Design.
Jeff Fenton, VP/Director of Design, ACC
620 Cerrillos Rd.
Santa Fe, NM 87505

www.accsantafe.com
A former executive with Gap, Inc., Jeff Fenton came to
Santa Fe 7 years ago to pursue his life-long passion for
interior design. After owning his own design firm for
many years, Jeff recently joined forces with ACC
(American Country Collection) as their Vice President of
Design. Jeff’s dynamic, creative style and ability to
provide vision to a client’s aspirations stand as his
hallmarks. Jeff’s work has been featured in numerous
local and national publications, including Northwest
Home & Garden, Elle Décor, Santa Fean, Sunset, Western
Interiors, and TLC’s Trading Spaces.
Jeff’s home tour project is the embodiment of green
building with its LEED Platinum Certification. Situated
on an amazing site with 360 degree views, this 4,000
square foot home was designed by architect John Watson,
who was schooled under Frank Lloyd Wright. The home’s
unique organic architecture is complimented by soft
contemporary finishes and furniture selections; each
chosen to enhance this young family’s active and
aesthetic lifestyle. American Clay walls, reclaimed oak
floors and custom designed furniture combine to create
the perfect “green” family oasis.
Beauty, Collaboration, Design, is captured at
every turn of this unique home. Built by Wolf Corp.,
this magnificent home is defined by its expansiveness
and by its complexity and use of unique materials and
green design. Collaboration between client, architect,
builder and designer was the thread that made this dream
home possible.

Partner, HVL Interiors

Steffany Hollingsworth is a seasoned design professional
who provides imaginative yet practical interiors for her
clientele throughout the country. Her philosophy is to
create sophisticated, well-edited, artistic interiors
regardless of style. Steffany is listed in the Heritage
Registry of Who’s Who in Interior Design, and has been
published in the books Leading Residential Interiors,
The New Adobe Home, and in numerous trade
magazines. Steffany’s fresh approach to creating
interiors transcends both residential and commercial
design.
Steffany’s home tour submission is a contemporary
dwelling which captures immaculate views while still
boasting intimate outdoor spaces. Her use of dramatic
design materials dance with stunning furnishings, rugs
and art. The home offers a hint of Asian flavor which
lends softness and elegance to the otherwise bold
contemporary structure. The home is an exemplary example
of collaboration between top design professionals.
Steffany describes her project’s connection to this
year’s theme as such: “Design is apparent in the
composition of form & line found in the structure, doors
& windows, tile applications, and the adjacencies of
hard & soft finishes. Beauty is found in the way the
architecture finds rapture with materials of burnished
stone, Japanese paper, mesquite flooring and clay
plaster. Collaboration was a seamless convergence by the
Architect, Builder, Interior Designer, Kitchen & Bath
Designer and Landscape Designer…blending the best of
their talents, expertise and experiences.”

Prior to opening Moss Outdoor, Gloria Moss worked in New
York for such high-style companies as Cassina and Knoll.
She worked closely within the art & design communities
collaborating with design giants; Gensler, Skidmore,
Owings & Merrill, and acclaimed designer John Saladino.
From these varied experiences, Gloria’s eye developed a
keen sense of design which she brings not only to her
personal residence featured on this year’s home tour,
but also to the finely selected assortment of outdoor
furnishings and accessories found within her showroom.
Gloria and her husband purchased their home five years
ago after seeing it on the internet, she immediately
told her husband to “stop looking!” Gloria knew from
the beginning that the home would present few challenges
because the rooms were open and beautifully
proportioned. She set out furnishing the home with a
collection of twentieth-century classics that appear to
have been custom made for the space!
When asked about her home’s commitment to this year’s
theme, Gloria responds; “My home embodies this year’s
theme with its fusion of indoor meets outdoor design.
For the outdoor spaces, I wanted the landscape to be
rough yet natural and filled with native rocks and
plantings mixed with annuals.” It goes without saying,
that for Gloria, the outdoor furnishings are as
important as the indoor, blurring the lines between
indoors and out.
Victoria Price, Owner, Victoria Price Art & Design
1512 Pacheco St., Bldg. B, Suite 102
Santa Fe, NM 87505

www.victoriaprice.com
With a degree in art history and her lifelong
involvement in the arts Victoria Price brings this
knowledge to each of her design projects. Victoria
specializes in remodels that seek to combine the best of
classic Santa Fe with cutting edge contemporary style
for which she has come to be known.
Her store and design studio combines the international
style of such iconic firms as Cassina, Moroso, Kartell,
and Poltrona Frau, with the best of regional and
historical art and artifacts.
Victoria’s project features wonderful Territorial lines
and architectural details surrounded by lovely gardens.
This tour home also displayed the rambling use of space
so typical of older Santa Fe homes, with its small
rooms, low ceilings and converted spaces. When the
couple who owned it asked Victoria to make it much more
contemporary, her task was to harmonize the best parts
of the old house with new finishes and increased
functionality.
“I chose this house in particular for this year's tour,
with its theme of Beauty, Collaboration,
Design, because it was a challenging remodel--but
one that I hope proves that it is possible to keep what
we all have loved about Santa Fe for so many
years--classic design elements, idiosyncratic
architecture, glorious grounds--and introduce greater
functionality, beautiful contemporary finishes, and
repurposed spaces--and achieve a harmonious blend of the
old and the new.”

Lisa
Samuel started her training studying architecture in
California, and has an extensive background in lighting
design and contract document production. Lisa is known
for creating interiors that embody her client’s taste
and lifestyle. “My work is always characterized by a
sense of sophistication and clean elegance. With
environmental issues at the forefront of our
consciousness we are embracing these issues in a serious
way. We endeavor to bring a unique organic sensibility
to every project we do.”
Lisa’s
project is located in the lush Tesuque River Bosque
whose location marries perfectly with this Northern New
Mexico style home. The home features “Betty Stewart
style” architectural appointments such as the eyebrow
arches over doors and windows and deep masonry exterior
walls which combine with hand-hewn ceiling timbers in a
truly elegant way. The home’s design was shared by
Interior Designer Greg Teakle and Architect Erik
Burlingame both of whom were instrumental in bringing
this vision to fruition.
Lisa’s
project embodies Beauty, Collaboration, Design,
in the collaborative efforts of the clients and the
design team assembled to accomplish their goals in
creating this beautiful estate. Lisa feels privileged to
be among the team. “I am a big fan of the “Betty Stewart
style,” says Lisa, “photographs do not do justice to
this amazing home. The design is incredible and truly a
collaborative effort in the many disciplines of design.”
Catherine Clemens, Owner, Clemens & Associates
1012 Marquez Place
Santa Fe, NM 87505
505-982-4005
www.clemensandassociates.com
Catherine Clemens is a landscape architect and partner
in Clemens & Associates, Inc. a landscape architecture,
contracting and maintenance firm. Catherine began her
career as a stone mason 30 years ago while obtaining her
fine arts degree. Catherine’s love of design is
reflected in her gardens which incorporate strong
architectural elements and unique finish details into
comfortable outdoor living spaces.
Curved walls in stone, brightly colored stucco and steel
snake through this playful landscape designed by
Catherine. Jewel-toned, teal blue and spring green walls
float within the sculpture garden. The theme continues
winding through a stand of local stone stele and a
Moroccan pergola. Large flat stones meld into the
landscape and serve as pedestals for the outdoor
sculpture collection and graphic stone patterns delight
the feet!
Design
should be art with intention and purpose. This is no
less true in garden design. The owners of this dynamic
sculpture garden have a sophisticated aesthetic which
has been honed through years of art collecting. Their
love of pattern, texture and color are repeatedly
integrated into the landscape design. This project was
proof that successful synergy between client and
designer can have dramatic results taking the project
far beyond initial expectations.
DESIGN SANTA FE CO-OP HOUSE & DESIGN BOUTIQUE
