August greetings, and
what a busy month it is! Thankfully our
temperatures are cooling down a bit as we wind down the
summer. Only one more month until fall! But let's
not wish this month away too fast because there is so
much going on here in the Southwest.
If you are a
fan of anything Native American, this is the month for
you. We have exclusive new designs from Native
American designer Virgil Ortiz just in time for his
exciting new launch at Santa Fe's Annual Indian Market,
and speaking of, we've got great info on Indian Market
too and the Native American Clothing Contest held during
market, featuring some of the most unique and beautiful
designs you may ever see.
We have a review of
fantastic Native music by, Nakai, Eaton & Clipman -
Dancing into Silence. Even more Native events
including the 61st Annual Navajo Festival in Flagstaff,
The Gallup 89th Annual Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial,
and a wonderful lecture in Santa Fe by Diné author
Jennifer Nez Denetdale, “Diné/Navajo Women: At the
Intersection of Nation, Gender and Tradition,” in the
New Mexico History Museum Auditorium on the final
afternoon of the Santa Fe Indian Market.
Our beauty feature this
month is celebrity hairstylist Jerome Gonzales of Santa
Fe TV fame. Find out what his story his and how
you too can get an appointment with a celeb stylist
that's in the know!
As always in fashion, we
have our featured Arizona designer, early-bird info on
Scottsdale's Fashion Week search for up and coming
designers, and H&M's new Scottsdale opening.
Concerts, cuisine and the arts also abound.
Please enjoy this month's
issue. Thanks for visiting! Next stop, the
September issue and fall fun!
