Wine Appreciation Class: "Harvest - Wine and Food Pairing"

Messina Hof, the fastest growing award-winning winery and resort in Texas, will hold a Wine Appreciation Class focused on "Harvest - Food and Wine Pairing" with an emphasis on "sauces" and how special sauces impact the dish and the wine that best complements it on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 3 p.m.

The art of wine and food pairing developed historically through local chefs pairing their cuisine with local wines. The modern pairing techniques involve discovering different combinations of wine and food that compliment each other and bring out the flavors of each to create the most enjoyable dinning experience possible.


Guests will have the opportunity to continue the excitement of Harvest and learn the intricacies of food and wine pairings with special emphasis on the importance of sauces and how they can change the dynamic of a dish and the wine pairing. Visitors will have an opportunity to sample Messina Hof's award wining wines and learn some of the essential rules of this age old art and how to apply them in their own meal planning.


Messina Hof's monthly Wine Appreciation Classes are taught so everyone from beginner to connoisseur can follow along and learn about the fabulous world of fine wine. Classes are 90 minutes and include light cheeses and wine.
