Aspen's spirited toast to snow,
celebrates another white winter Jan. 14 - 17, 2010, with
four days of free and nearly free events and activities
for the whole family. Wintersköl dates back to a quiet
January in 1951 when the ski lifts closed after the
holiday rush. Today, Aspen's lifts stay open, town is
abuzz, and locals and visitors continue to rejoice in
this lively tribute to winter fun. This year's slogan,
"Epic Steeps and Decades Deep" reflects Aspen's rich
skiing heritage and optimism for epic snowfall during
winter 2009/2010.
In the spirit of community, event
organizers and the Aspen Chamber Resort Association aim
to keep Wintersköl's nearly 30 events and activities
low-cost or free. In addition, several Aspen/Snowmass
lodges are offering discounted accommodations during
this year's Wintersköl celebration.
