For thousands
of years humans have enriched their lives with the power
of aroma. Perhaps the oldest aroma used by humans in
their pursuit of romance is the scent of the oil of
roses and specifically the oil extracted from the
delicate petals of the Rosa Damascena flowers. Rosa
Damascena is an ancient and informal looking rose bush
which no longer grows in abundance in the wild but is
cultivated for it’s amazing scent in Bulgaria, Turkey,
India and Iran. True Rosa Damascena Absolute is an
expensive commodity which is worth more by weight than
gold. Many other floral, herb and wood-based essential
distilled oils are used throughout the world in daily
life to enhance meditation, promote relaxation and even
to invigorate and magnify one’s passion.

Naturals has taken these exotic eastern scents, which
are from 100% pure and natural sources and blended them
into a base of white sandalwood oil to create an
inexpensive and consistent line of 100% natural “perfume
oils”. The word “perfume” is used only to explain how
these scents can be used not for a specific therapeutic
purpose but simply because you want to smell nice or
because your partner enjoys a specific scent on you.
That is where the product’s association with perfume
ends. Modern perfumes are to our products as allopathic
medications are to herbs. These body scent products
have absolutely no chemicals and are 100% pure and from
the Earth.
Originally,
the extracts taken from plants were used medicinally.
Many of these essential oils are used in modern day
aroma therapy. They were later used for more spiritual
and personal purposes by more and more people and then
at some point around the time of the industrialization
of all things, pure plant extracts were used as the base
for the modern perfume industry. The industrialization
of perfumes also came with the need to patent a product.
It is not possible to patent rose oil or jasmine oil, so
large companies interested in maximizing their position
and their profits adulterated these pure products with
chemicals that make people sick. It is time to take back
our right to natural scent and purity in our daily use
commodities!
Because of
the association of natural scents with the
chemically-based perfume industry, when first sniffing
some of these products, a chemically sensitive person’s
mind sends out the warning and may indeed trigger a
reaction based on fear. This naturally instinctive
response is meant to protect you from what your body
perceives as a dangerous substance. However, these
products cannot cause a true chemical reaction because
there are no chemicals in these products, but a reaction
of the body caused by the association of the scent with
a dangerous chemical is not a pleasant experience
nonetheless.
Their
suggestion to chemically sensitive people who want to
reintroduce aroma back into their lives is to take it
one simple scent at a time and take baby steps. Begin
with a few drops in a tea kettle sending a bit of
scented steam throughout your space. After that, when
you are feeling more comfortable, you can include a few
drops in your bathwater or even apply a drop to your
wrist and wear it for the day. Introduce new scents
periodically and after a few short months you will find
your world opening back up to new and old emotions.
