This month: Adding
Southwest Flair to an Everyday Business Suit
Wherever you live, you
may want to add a little southwest style to your working
wardrobe.
We took an everyday
business suit in a light beige of lined linen for this
purpose. This is a good all-around suit for the
southwest and can go through the seasons and even winter
in milder areas. The skirt is a bit longer and has
a flare at the bottom which lends itself to southwest
style. Additionally the jacket is shorter and
mirrors the beautiful bolero jackets of Spanish origin
with a small standing Nehru collar.
So having selected an
appropriate suit with a style and cut that lend itself
to our purpose, we can now begin to add the southwest
lair.
We have added a crocheted
camisole in lieu of a tailored business shirt. The
camisole is in a darker shade and matches the suit
beautifully. We then added a linen scarf with a
sheen to its texture and fringe on the edges. A
gold medallion on a leather thong completes the look.
This outfit can pair
nicely with a light or cream pair of boots, or a darker
brown Granny boot. Depending on where you're
going, peep-toes or high clogs could work well.
But if you do not select boots and are in an office
environment select a suitable pump in a taupe. |
