Greetings and welcome to
the May issue of Southwest Flair Magazine. Summer
is on it's way but it feels like spring has only just
begun here in the southwest. In other parts of the
country, swimsuits and flip-flops are coming out, but
the southwest gal in me couldn't resist a new pair of
boots this month from
Twisted X and I love 'em! Tall sage green
shafts with a tan foot, orange stitching and
teardrop-shaped finger pulls. I had a little
trouble going to the square toe but it's very
comfortable indeed. They are the most comfortable boots
I've ever had and I don't even feel like I'm wearing
boots. The "spring green" was just what I needed!
Now, if I could just find a skirt in that shade . . .
This month we have a
fantastic article from Santa Fe's Aysha Griffin on
rekindling a love of southwest fashion. We also
have a great spread on fashions in Park City, Utah, and
photographers Deb DeKoff and Rob Follett have unearthed
some very unique finds for us.
There's a lot happening
in cuisine this month with new restaurants opening,
Mother's Day desserts and a special Limoncello recipe.
And speaking of Mother's Day, what more appropriate
celebration in the southwest than a Mother's Day
blessing from the Walatowa Pueblo Elders to be held at
the lovely Inn & Spa at Loretto in Santa Fe?
There's also a Mom and Me pedicure that offers just the
right options for spending a perfect day.
And speaking of spas, we
have a whole line-up of some of the best and most
beautiful spas in the southwest for your body, mind and
soul, just what you need, ey?
A lot going on in the
arts this month and we have a really cool feature:
Solemates: Cowboy Boots and Art, from the New
Mexico Museum of Art (now we know why I had to have that
new pair of boots!) And Lititia Huckaby's exhibit
LA 19, Daughters of God, is one of the most
unique around. We have a special update on Wes
Studi and his recent award from the White Sands
International Film Festival, and much more, so please
enjoy this month's issue and thanks for stopping by!
