November Makeup Look for Over Forty

In keeping with this month's beautiful cover look and color theme, it's a light, more transparent, more subtle look, freshening with a youthful pick-me-up.  Leave the darker shades for the younger women; as we age, we need lighter, uplifting makeup looks and applications.  To get this month's look follow the easy steps below.

Cheeks

After applying any concealer and foundation, add blusher.  Start with a neutral beige/bronze (for contour) at center of cheekbone and draw back toward hairline.  Blend with sponge to assure a smooth look.  Next add a light brick color above this on top of cheekbone.  Blend and smooth towards hairline and into the neutral shade below. Highlight top and bottom with a softly shimmering pink or peach and blend.  Dust with loose finishing powder.

Eyes

Fully line top lid with a medium brown eye pencil, smudge to soften.  Line outer bottom lid from inner iris to outer edge.  Smudge to soften.

For shadows, begin with a pale beige over inner half of top lid and along inner bridge of nose.  Add a taupe/mink brown to outer half of crease.  Blend the two softly with emphasis on the light beige, rather than the darker shade(s).  Highlight with an off-white, cream-colored shade.  Blend up toward brow bone.

Lips

For lips, a light brown gloss top and bottom, careful not to get too dark on top lip.  Add a dot of white or highlight or clear gloss in center of bottom lip.

This look will give you a beautifully soft, yet uplifting glow in a very neutral and workable fall shade.
