Health & Beauty Review: Diamond
Shine Hair Care Products from Zotos
by Cheryl Yale-Bruedigam

Recently I read an
article that posed the question, are salon formulas
really better than store-bought brands? I decided
to see for myself and have already sampled enough retail
shampoos in my life to know how little they have done
for my hair. And though I do not know how many
salons, if any, actually carry this brand, I purchased
it at Sallie where I had set off to find a hair care
system I would like. I had indeed tired of the
brand I was using, though also considered a "salon"
brand and found at Sallies, it is also found at Wal-Mart
and most retail stores carrying hair care products.
I have used it for years,
TRESemmé, and I have used the full line. I
have been completely loyal. Maybe desert-dwellers
just aren't their market . . . or maybe my needs just
outgrew the products.
I have big hair, and lots
of it. I am nearly fifty, it is graying. I
live in the southwest which is drying to say the least,
and although I know it is not good, I wash every day
because if I do not put my head under water, I will not
wake up. So I have to wash every day. I
usually use a blow-dryer and on some days, a flat-iron.
Given all of these variables, I have begun to need more
than the former hair care products could provide.
This summer especially, my hair had become very dry and
unmanageable. A good cut helped on the day I was
at the salon (which is once in a blue moon) but upon
returning home to my own home hair care, I found my hair
looking worse than ever. In desperation, I tried a
line which I purchased at a major health store chain and
after two days my hair was even worse still, only then
it had become dry on top and oily beneath. Off to
Sallies I went.
I spent a good half hour
perusing the shelves, having no clue as to which line
would do what and kept coming back to the Diamond Shine.
It smelled wonderful and that was one factor I was
looking for, I wanted my hair to smell as if I had just
stepped out of the salon, not to mention to look and
feel that way. So smell, look and feel were
the main priorities. The price was helpful too
though it was not a deciding factor; however, an
in-store promotion made it all very affordable, much
less than I was expecting and much less than I spent on
the expensive line from the health chain store.
I purchased the liter
sizes in the moisture shampoo and the moisturizing
conditioner along with the Illuminating Smoother and the
non-aerosol hairspray and I plan to return for the
regular aerosol spray soon because I always use a
combination of both.
The first day, I used the products, there
was a notable difference, My hair smelled great,
felt good, frizz was not gone but seemed more
manageable, and was softer. It was definitely easier to
straighten and the straightening went much faster. The
dried yet oily feeling I had from the other shampoo was
completely gone. My hair color appeared brighter to me
too so I think that was probably the shine factor that
they promote. Each day that has passed, my hair
has continued to be significantly improved and
significantly softer and the frizz lessened each day
until it is mostly gone and very controllable.
Normally I will not use a conditioner everyday as it
will wind up causing a yucky oily effect but not so; am
conditioning everyday with this product and no build-up.
It just gets better and better.
As the grand finale', my
husband asked one morning if I had done my hair yet, and
I had answered no. He said, "it looks like
you have because it still looks great," and I replied
cheerfully, as if I were the company spokesperson, "well
it must be that new Diamond Shine hair care system!"
He was sold and has switched over as well after over
twenty years of using the the same hair care products I
had been using.
Maybe the key is the
actual diamond micro-particles that these products
contain. Other key ingredients listed are keratin
and panthenol; keratin being a natural protein that
strengthens, and panthenol being a natural, hydrating
form of vitamin B, said to act as an excellent
moisturizer. According to eHow, Panthenol's
ability to penetrate render it an excellent ingredient
for improving damaged hair, reducing split ends and
adding an abundance of shine and texture to hair.
Panthenol is also used to improve the texture of damaged
hair both physically and chemically. Whatever they
put in there, it works.
It was a little scary and
somewhat risky financially to seek out and try a new
system but I am so glad that I did. I am no longer
mad at my hair, nor my stylist, nor the climate, and
have yet to have a "bad" hair day since. I love my
hair, and I love Diamond Shine products. |
