Over 2,000
Free Yoga Classes and Events during National Yoga
Awareness Month September 2010

Los Angeles, CA– National Yoga Month, a national
awareness campaign to inspire a healthy lifestyle, will
bring FREE YOGA to millions of people this September.
During National Yoga Month yoga studios and teachers
will offer 2,000+ free yoga classes and events
nationwide.
In these tough economic times taking care of our health
(mind and body) doesn't have to take a back seat. Yoga
is one great way to beat the recession blues and
strengthen our bodies. Whether people are trying it for
the first time or are experienced yogis looking to
deepen their practice, there's never been a more
opportune time to practice yoga. The economy and job
losses are always on our minds these days, causing
anxiety and fear. But yoga provides an accessible way to
manage stress for anyone.
HOW OLD SHOULD ONE BE TO START YOGA?
You can start yoga at any age.
WHAT ARE THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF PRACTICING YOGA?
Some of the benefits of practicing yoga are increased
flexibility, stronger muscles and connective tissue,
alignment of the vertebrae, toned and rejuvenated
internal organs.
In addition, the epidermal, digestive, lymphatic,
cardiovascular, and pulmonary systems are purified of
toxins and waste matter; the nervous and endocrine
systems are balanced and toned; brain cells are
nourished and stimulated.
Results of a regular yoga practice include increased
mental clarity, emotional stability, and a greater sense
of overall wellbeing.
Yoga is one of the 10 most utilized Complementary
Medicine methods in US.
Because Yoga operates on so many different levels, it
can be an effective therapy for chronic diseases and
conditions that do not respond well to conventional
treatment methods.
Additionally, a regular yoga practice will sharpen
concentration, balance, and composure.
WHO BENEFITS FROM YOGA MONTH?
You benefit the most. Start practicing yoga (at home or
with a teacher) and feel the difference it will make in
your life.
Yoga Month educational programs were created to offer
solutions to diseases such as diabetes, obesity,
hypertension and other chronic illnesses that have cast
a pall over the health of our youth.
Yoga Month proceeds fund the national awareness campaign
and Yoga-Recess in Schools to bring yoga-based health
and fitness education into classrooms.

ABOUT NATIONAL YOGA MONTH
In 2008, the Department of Health and Human Services
designated September as National Yoga Month, one of a
select number of national health observances. That same
year, thousands of yoga and health enthusiasts
participated in a 10 City Yoga Health Festival Tour
featuring yoga classes, lectures, music, entertainment,
exhibits. Since then, the initiative has taken root as a
global awareness campaign, educating, inspiring and
motivating people to achieve a healthy lifestyle. Yoga
Month is coordinated by the Yoga Health Foundation, a
501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
Yoga studios, teachers and organizers are encouraged to
offer free yoga classes and events in their community
and list them at www.yogamonth.org
