ARTfeast
Santa Fe Announces 2010 Schedule
SANTA FE, NM. Now in its 13th year, ARTfeast has
become Santa Fe’s premier winter celebration. The
weekend of events, February 26-28, is acclaimed for
lifting spirits, satisfying palates, and paying forward
the artful experiences of Santa Fe’s youth.
“A great time for a creative cause” is ARTfeast’s motto
in bringing together the finest art, food, wine,
fashions, and homes. As a fundraiser for the nonprofit
ARTsmart, ticket proceeds and purchases throughout the
weekend are contributed to the public schools to
purchase art materials, provide art programs and
mentors, and fund art scholarships. Just under
three-quarters of a million dollars has been donated to
date.
 |
ARTsmart is a
volunteer organization that believes the visual
arts are critical to a child’s development.
Through charitable donations and events,
ARTsmart funds art programs for Santa Fe
schoolchildren.

In the past decade,
ARTfeast aficionados have come to prize not only the
sumptuous cuisine created by the city’s top chefs and
art by the best painters and sculptors in the world, but
also the remarkable originality of Santa Fe’s budding
artists, who compete in a variety of ARTsmart programs.
Among them is the popular “I Made It!” ceramic plate
design competition, the results of which are offered
throughout the weekend, as well as artworks created by
high school students mentored by Honorary Artist Sam
Scott.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26
The celebration commences on Friday at the Inn and Spa
at Loretto where the
Fashion Show and Luncheon offers a delectable meal
complemented by fine wines and a runway presentation of
fashions by local and regional designers. A special set
of 12 “I Made It!” plates is on the auction block.
At 5 pm, revelers take to the streets in the Edible Art
Tour (EAT). Thirty members of the Santa Fe Gallery
Association host special exhibition openings that are
catered by the top restaurateurs and chefs in the city.
Shuttle buses transport ticketholders from the Downtown
to Canyon Road.
After EAT closes its doors at 8 pm, the party moves to
the Coyote Cafe where the Feast or Famine mixer purveys
beer, munchies, music, and dancing. This new event is
designed for the over-21 crowd.
SATURDAY & SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 27-28
Curious about what’s behind those adobe walls? Fill your
afternoons with the free Art of Home Tour. This
self-guided tour of grand estates and in-town homes
selected by Santa Fe Properties stimulates
architecturally and visually with interiors bedecked in
artworks supplied by Santa Fe gallerists.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 27
Every year ARTsmart honors one of the state’s top
artists. In 2010 Santa Fe painter Sam Scott is
recognized at the Gourmet Dinner, which is held in the
Old World elegance of La Posada de Santa Fe. Five top
chefs create an unparalleled five-course meal, with each
course complemented by a perfect aperitif and wine. All
of the plates in the “I Made It!” plate competition go
up for bid, along with a plate-set and other surprises.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28
The Artists’ Champagne Brunch is a grand finale at Hotel
Santa Fe, where the hotel’s famed Amaya Restaurant chefs
weave ancient and contemporary foods into a festive
auction atmosphere. Live and silent bidding takes place
for an “I Made It!” plate-set, sculptures, paintings,
jewelry, adventures, travel packages, and unique
experiences that make life worth living.
