Original Designs from Sacramento
Weavers
Sacramento Mountain Weavers have created their original
work in Cloudcroft for the past two years, selling their
hand-made rugs and garments at prestigious shows such as
the Ruidoso Art Festival, Oktoberfest in Cloudcroft, and
the Albuquerque Art Festival. They were the featured
artists for a month last year at Studio 54@70 in
Tularosa, and their work has been sold at the
*Cloudcroft Art Gallery* and at *Cricklewood* on Burro
Street.
They also sell through their web site:
www.sacramentomountainweavers.com.
"We are thrilled to finally have such a great space to
create and show our original work," explains Kenny Nix.
"We will also be showing work by other artists featuring
subjects of local interest. Lots of fun gift ideas! We
couldn't be more excited!"
Partner, Kelly Stewart, has additional motives. "I'm so
happy to have a place to work, a place to be inspired to
create." Previously, Stewart, who does the bulk of the
work of weaving, had to climb a flight of stairs and a
ladder to work in the home loft in their house where the
large loom has been situated since the partners
relocated to Cloudcroft from Dallas two years ago. Prior
to that, they were part-time mountain residents.

Nix's Kozy Kowl
Most of the design and color composition are done by
Nix, an international flight attendant for American
Airlines, who also paints in oils and watercolors. His
paintings will hang in the studio showroom where Stewart
will work on his looms. Together, they have created
one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces that sell for
thousands, as well as
beautiful, affordable scarves and other keep-warm
creations, such as Nix's*Kozy Kowls, a hit this past
winter with mountain visitors. They will also accept
original commissions based on clients' individual
needs. Both the soft opening and the Grand Opening
Reception are free and open to the public.
