Follow
up on our Southwest Afghan
Editor's note: Last fall's article on how to
make a southwest afghan was so popular that we have
decided to do a follow up.

Our afghan, which took a year to complete working at a
leisurely pace, was given as a wedding gift to our
editor's son and wife.
One enthusiastic reader who
had never crocheted before, followed our easy
step-by-step instructions and had whipped out three
afghans by the first of the year! Said Betty
Fisher of Garland, Texas, "Thanks again SO MUCH for
teaching me how to do it - I kept looking at the books
in the stores and they just left me totally confused - I
even bought a crochet book just recently to learn
different types of crochet and they went
flying right over my head."

Fisher and her first afghan
Fisher's second and third
afghans are pictured below. The first pictured was
done in about two weeks, the second pictured, a birthday
present, was done in only five days!
Thanks to Betty Fisher for sharing her beautiful work
with us.
