19th Annual “Western ArtWalk”
Oct. 16, 2008, 7-9 pm
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The 19th annual Western ArtWalk
returns to the “West’s Most Western Town” and the
Scottsdale Arts District on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008 from
7 to 9 p.m. Hosted by the Scottsdale Gallery Association
(SGA) in conjunction with Downtown Scottsdale and
sponsored in part by Arizona Collector’s Guide.
The Western ArtWalk is held each Fall while the Cowboy
Artists of America (CAA) Show is in town. Many of the
famed CAA artists will have their works on display or be
on hand during the Western ArtWalk to mingle with fans
and collectors at featured Scottsdale galleries.
ArtWalkers will also find plenty of western-themed live
music, sponsored in part by True West Magazine. This
year’s event will feature country-rockers The Chickens
and many others. Free restaurant samplings, awesome
prize giveaways and other special doings can be found
along the ArtWalk route in celebration of Scottsdale’s
western heritage.
You can find the Scottsdale Arts District along Main
Street, just west of Scottsdale Road, and along Marshall
Way north and south of Indian School Road up to Stetson.
There are plenty of nearby free parking areas, and easy
access to local hotels or famed Scottsdale eateries via
Scottsdale Trolleys or horse-drawn carriages.

Fall Wine and Jazz Festival at El Pedregal

Fall Wine and Jazz Festival, a celebration of great
food, distinctive wines and music. In the outdoor
amphitheatre, guests are invited to sit under the blue
sky and listen to classic jazz music by an array of
noteworthy jazz performers throughout the valley. The
Sunday event takes place between the hours of 12:00
p.m-3:00p.m. Admission is free and food tickets and
commemorative wine glasses are available for purchase.
El Pedregal encompasses 80,000 square feet of space
filled with fascinating boutiques, Southwestern apparel,
intriguing art galleries, and fun and casual dining.
Over 30 shops surround an enticing courtyard and
amphitheater, which features a variety of entertainment
offerings.

Red River Comes Alive
with ‘Oktoberfest’
October 3-5, 2008.
Microbreweries, vendors, food, German “oom-pah-pah”
polka music, contests and
activities for the kids await at the Oktoberfest in Red
River,
The Red River Chamber of Commerce hosts the three-day
family event in
Brandenburg Park, right in the middle of Red River on
the Enchanted Circle,
high in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New
Mexico.
Oktoberfest draws participants from all over the
Southwest and is quickly
becoming a "must" to experience. Blending this
traditional family-oriented
German Festival with the unique charm of Red River,
which already has the
Alpine look and feel, is a treat for the entire family.
There is no admission fee, but there is a $5 charge to
sample microbrews, that
includes a souvenir taster mug. Vendor spaces are still
available.
