Zandi puts Women On
Pedestals (where they belong), in the second show of artistic fashions
by Zandi Designs at the Wilder-Nightingale Gallery, 6-8pm on Sat. July
9.
“Women On Pedestals” presents fashion as art, in a gallery setting, with
models posing as living sculptures. This unique show, collaboratively
created by designer Zandi and gallery owner, Rob Nightingale, made quite
an impression its first year, as the cover story in Tempo Arts &
Entertainment magazine, July 15 issue. Taos News reporter, R. Scott
Gerdes, described it as “the gallery of fine art exuded Southwest, but
the fashions and ambience said en vogue in New York.”
“Beautiful women floated by, wearing unique and stunning apparel by Taos
designer, Zandi, to pose on pedestals, modeling fashion as living
sculptures. The glitter, shine, softness, texture and colors of Zandi’s
magical ensembles spoke of ethnicity & exotica.” Zandi (aka
Sandra Richardson) loves to create flowing styles that
flatter the female form, are fun and easy to wear, and low
maintenance. “I enjoy recycling vintage fabrics such as
opulent embroidered saris from India and hand-woven silks
from Laos into contemporary styles. The clothes travel
really well, pack light, no wrinkles, and are wash & wear,
no ironing.”
“My mission is to dress women of all shapes, sizes and ages
in a way that makes them feel like a goddess, allowing their
inner beauty to shine out. But I don’t believe you need to
suffer for beauty, my motto is: “Goddesses Don’t Iron!” |
