| Greetings from the Southwest!

Cheryl Bruedigam, Editor
If you're like me, you live in the
Southwest but cannot find a magazine anywhere about living in the
Southwest. You do not likely make a habit of shopping in Santa Fe for
art sculptures, and mountain communities like Vail are a little high on
school taxes, so although they're nice to read about occasionally, what
you are really looking for is a magazine that applies to your way of
life, your style.
Residents of the Southwest are artistic, alternative, frugal, down to
earth, do-it-your-selfers, who may work from home or have regular jobs,
but when they go home, they go home to an adobe, a stucco, a log cabin,
or even a straw-bale house. |
Words like Territorial, Mediterranean, and
Pueblo-style, are a part of our architectural vocabulary, while chili, sopapilla, and posoli, are part of our menus. You want to read about gardening in your area, regional events, great
recipes, Southwest fashions, decor and anything else Southwest. Well now
you may read all of this and more in each issue of Southwest Flair: the
magazine for Southwestern living. In every issue we will bring you beautiful photos and interesting
articles from the desert Southwest, keeping you up to date, in tune, and
intrigued about the region you call home.
Our monthly series on Portals explores
the magical entrances, doors, steps and pathways that are such an
intrinsic part of Southwest architecture. We will provide informative
pieces on creating a backyard oasis with everything from water ponds to
herb gardens. Our Dressing in the West column will keep you stepping out
in style, your style, and At Home: Inside and Out, will help you to
adorn your home in traditional or fanciful Southwestern decor. Food,
weekend and day trips, will inspire you to get out and about
experiencing the best and the most unique in Southwest travel and
cuisine. Our Spheres of Inspiration will cover all areas of the arts,
and local artisans so that you're sure to not miss out on the talented
creations and productions from our own backyard. And we will always have
a special feature sure to capture your interest.
So please join us in Southwestern living with a flair, and we'll hope to
see you each issue as we explore all that this wonderful region has to
offer. |
